Joyce Krafka, 71 - March 16, 2017

Joyce Ann Krafka, 71, of Gothenburg passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, surrounded by her loyal guardian, Marye Franzen, and her husband, Larry.
A graveside memorial service would take place at a later date to be determined at Ottumwa, IA.
Krafka was born on Nov. 8, 1945, to Walter and Elizabeth (Martin) Krafka at Ottumwa. When she was 12 years old, she moved to Beatrice in 1958 to enroll at the Martin Luther Home and School. She stayed there as a year-around student until she was 18. At that time, she was placed with a job at the hospital in Gothenburg.
She was employed at the Gothenburg hospital for numerous years showing care and compassion to all the patients. She then resided at the group home Parkview, and worked at the Building Blocks Childcare Center and Preschool.
Krafka is loved, missed and remembered by multitudes of family and friends whom she touched, challenged, amused and inspired, according to family members. For a Down’s Syndrome disabled person, she functioned at the high end of the continuum. Living to the age of 71 was close to the Guinness Book of Records for the life expectancy of Down Syndrome at 74.
?She will remembered for her devotion to God, Christ and the Bible, stated family. She attended the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg, and at one time was a member of the bell choir.
Survivors include: her brother, Dick Krafka (Ernestine) of Reeds Spring, MO; a sister, Janet “Fritz” Rohrer (Ed) of Atlanta, GA; four nieces, one nephew, three great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church, Hilltop Estates and the Mosaic School in Beatrice, formerly Martin Luther Home and School.
