Paul Thompson, 95 - August 28, 2017

Paul Thompson, 95, of Gothenburg passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Kearney.
Graveside services took place at Fort Mc­Pherson National Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with the Revs. Ray Corlew and Mark Borchardt officiating.
Thompson was born Dec. 8, 1922, the son of Agnes and W.T. Thompson of Cozad. He grew up in Cozad and worked at JC Penny’s part time and graduated from Cozad High School. He lived at Cozad until he went to California to attend aeronautic school.
He served his country during World War II as a navigator in the Air Corps.
During World War II, he married Jewell Thompson, an Army nurse.
Following his air force career, he returned to Cozad and joined the insurance and real estate business with his father.
In December of 1973, he married Patricia Ann Bargholz of San Diego, CA. He and his wife have resided in Gothenburg for 43 years.
Thompson remained employed into his 70s, and was also a senior master appraiser and appraised farm land into his 80s.
He and his wife loved to travel and were always on the go, according to family members. The couple shared a strong faith and were active with the Victory Assembly of God Church.
?Thompson was an avid reader and enjoyed good humor, said the family.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, W.T. and Agnes; a sister, Maxine Thompson Churchill; brother, Ted Thompson; step-son, Jeff Bargholz; great-granddaughter, Juliet Strasburg.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Ann Thompson of Gothenburg; his son, Paul Richard Thompson; his daughter, Dianne Thompson; step-daughters—Jodi (Keith) Carlson and Dorrie Unlauf; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members.
