Todd Gavin, 51 - January 13, 2018

Todd Martin Gavin, age 51 of Callaway, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, at Kearney Regional Hospital after a 15-year battle with a metabolic disorder.
Todd was the fourth of four children born to Mona (Mickey) and Robert Gavin. Todd was born Feb. 11, 1966, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Todd lived his early childhood years in Maryland, Florida and Puerto Rico before his family moved to Nebraska after his Dad’s retirement from the United States Navy. Todd graduated from High School in Callaway in 1984.
From an early age,Todd had an interest in sports. While he was a good athlete in high school and participated in several different sports, his depth of knowledge and understanding of all sports was remarkable. You could ask him who the 1977 second string quarterback was for almost any sports franchise and he would tell you…..and then tell you where that quarterback went to college. This was one of the passions Todd had in life.
His interest in sports led him to being a sports reporter and sports editor after attending college. He moved to California for work and then to Georgia. It was in Georgia that Todd began his work as a Chef in training. Todd was a great cook and finally had an opportunity to put his skills to work as owner of The Triple T Steakhouse in Callaway.
While Todd was a big man, he had an even bigger heart. Those who truly knew Todd knew his heart was soft despite his outward impression. Todd married Patty Marlin in 1993, and although they later divorced Patty remains a dear friend of the family.
Survivors include his mother Mona (Mickey) Gavin; brothers—Tim (Jill) Gavin of Grand Island, and Troy (Julie) Gavin of Sutherland; along with nieces Christina (Gavin) Wilkinson and her family, and Lindsi Gavin; nephews—Tycen Gavin and Colt Corbin.
Todd was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gavin; and sister, Kelley Jo Gavin.
Memorial services were held Saturday Jan. 20, at the Callaway Community Church.
