Glenn Carlson, 82 - February 27, 2008
Glenn Carlson, 82, of Cozad, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at the Cozad Community Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
He was born March 28, 1925, at Gothenburg to Lester and Myrtle (Stenman) Carlson. He attended Cozad High School where he was a member of the Class of 1943. He served in the U. S. Navy.
On Sept. 20, 1953, he married Maryan Franzen at Gothenburg and the couple made their home in Cozad.
He was employed at the Post Office for many years where he served as a clerk, assistant postmaster and postmaster. After his retirement from the Post Office, he was employed at the Berryman Funeral Home for several years.
He enjoyed golfing, having coffee with his friends, woodworking and taking care of his yard.
?He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, American Legion Post #77 in Cozad, Cozad Country Club and was a charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge. He was a longtime member of the Cozad Fire Department.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Donald; two brothers—Dale and Donald; and a sister, Lois Scott.
Survivors include: his wife, Maryan of Cozad; a son, Jon (Val) Carlson of Omaha; two daughters—Jodi (Jay) Doran of Austin, Texas and Chris Carlson of Reston, Virginia; six grandchildren—Evan, Andrea, Kalen, Erin, Sarah and Jeff and a brother, Rodney Carlson of Cozad.
