Margy Rothrock, 94 - September 26, 2007
Margy Ellen Rothrock, 94, of Nevada, formerly of Gothenburg, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at LifeCare Center in Reno, NV.
A private family celebration of her life will be held in Reno on Sept. 29, and a funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Gothenburg. Burial will take place at Gothenburg next to her husband, Joy.
Rothrock was born on March 18, 1913, at Big Springs.
She and her husband, Joy, spent their younger days operating cafes, traveling, hunting for artifacts and rocks, and creating displays of them for their billiard parlor. Their collection was donated to the Dawson County Museum.
Rothrock had lived in Nebraska her entire life until 2000, when she moved to Reno to live with and be cared for by her daughter, Jacqueline.
In 2006, she moved into LifeCare Center in Reno, who family members thank as well as Vistacare Hospice for their loving care.
?She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Gothenburg and was famous for her delicious pies, rolls and burnt sugar cakes, according to family members. She was also known for her sweet, kind, and gentle nature and was loved by all who met her.
?Rothrock was preceded in death by her husband, Joy Rothrock in 1975.
Survivors include: her daughters—Joyce Cunning of Gothenburg and Jacqueline Frandsen of Reno; her son, James Rothrock of Colorado Springs, CO; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
