Alvin Bringelson, 92 - September 05, 2007

Alvin M. Bringelson, 92, of Gothenburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Gothenburg.
Services were held on Monday, Sept. 3, at the Banner United Methodist Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Bringelson was born in Webster County, near Inavale, on June 15, 1915, to Otto and Carin Marie Nelson Bringelson.
He attended elementary schools in Webster County as a child and, following the death of his mother in 1924, made his home with relatives at Farnam. He graduated from Farnam High School in 1934.
Bringelson moved to the Gothenburg area and found employment with several Banner community families during the Depression. He worked as a farm hand until 1938 when he became a farming partner of Rahl Buddenberg.
He was united in marriage to Rachel Hyde on June 3, 1938, at Banner United Methodist Church. To this union, two children were born, Richard Alvin and Deborah Rae.
Bringelson continued farming south of Gothenburg until 1965, when he and his wife moved to a farm south of Maxwell. They resided there until 1984, when they retired to Gothenburg. In 2005, the couple moved into Stone Hearth Estates at Gothenburg.
He was a 73-year member of the Banner United Methodist Church where he was active on boards and committees. He was a past master Gothenburg Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 249, 32 degree Scottish Rite of the Masons and a past member of the Eastern Star. He served as president of the Maxwell Rural Fire District for 18 years and served on the elevator and bank boards as well. He was also a leader in 4-H livestock clubs and a charter member of the Lion’s Club.
?Bringelson was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Rachel; four sisters—Elsie, Hazel, Eleanor and Francis; a brother, John; son-in-law, Jerome Spading; grandson, Mark Spading.
Survivors include: a son, Richard A. (Julie Ferris) Bringelson of Doniphan; a daughter, Deborah Rae (Bringelson) Spading of North Platte; five grandchildren—Liwana Bringelson of Waterloo, Ontario Canada, Dawn Bringelson of Denton, Carin Bringelson of Madison, WI, Melissa (Spading) Jerabek of Omaha and Elizabeth (Spading) Freeze of Bridgeport; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Burwell of Inavale.
Memorials are suggested to the Banner United Methodist Church and the Masonic Eastern Star Children’s Home, Box 1327, Fremont, NE 68025.
