Dolly Gearhart, 88 - July 25, 2007
Dolly M. Gearhart, 88, of Gothenburg died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
Services were held on Monday, July 23, at the Gibbon Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Paulsen officiating. Burial was at the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.
Gearhart was born on Sept. 26, 1918, on a farm near Gibbon, to Richard (Dick) and Alma (Cooper) Lowell. She grew up at Gibbon where she attended rural school.
On Nov. 21, 1936, she was united in marriage to Donald “Cap” Gearhart. The couple made their home in Gibbon where they raised four children, Howard, Donald, Dale and Leona (Cline).
She had worked in the Gibbon area wallpapering many homes. She then worked for Baldwin Filters in Kearney for 16 years until her retirement in 1981.
Gearhart was a member of the Baptist Church and the Gibbon Rebekah Faithful lodge. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and collecting dolls, according to family members.
?She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Cap; two sons—Dale and Donald; a granddaughter and a great-great-grandson; three brothers—Bob, Art and Lorren; two sisters—Edith Leisinger and Marie Pedersen.
?Survivors include: a daughter, Leona (Kenneth) Cline of Gothenburg; a son, Howard of Gibbon; two daughters-in-law—Lavonne Jones of Gibbon and Chris Gearhart of Port St. Lucee, FL; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a sister, Orpha Rockefeller of Gibbon.
Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Emergency Unit Fund.
