Colby Hicken, 21 - February 07, 2007
Colby Leigh Hicken, 21, of Gothenburg, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in a vehicle accident enroute to Axtell from Minden on Highway 6.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial will take place at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Hicken was born Dec. 9, 1985, at Gothenburg, to Robert and Barbara (Mak) Hicken. He graduated with the Class of 2004 from Gothenburg High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
He worked as a med-aide at Home Sharon for Mosaic-Bethphage Village in Axtell. He enjoyed working with the special people who lived there and touched many of their lives, according to family members.
Hicken was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the sport of baseball and playing for the Melon’s baseball team, said family members. He was also a great fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Minnesota Vikings.
?Another one of his passions was bowling with his family, especially in league with his biggest fan, his dad. Although Colby was known for his sports he was best known for his sense of humor and wonderful smile, the family said.
?He was preceded in death by: his aunt, Lynn Lohrman; grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Hicken.
Survivors include: his parents, Robert and Barbara Hicken of Gothenburg; a sister, Ashleigh (TJ) Hicken-Brown of Lincoln; girlfriend Steph Kreis and daughter, Keyenna of Minden; grandparents, Louis and Helen Mak of Gothenburg; step-brothers—Todd Scott of Omaha and Scott Cutler of South Dakota; aunts, uncles, many cousins and special friends.
