James Haswell, 67 - July 15, 2009
James Dean Haswell, 67, of Boise, ID, formerly of Arnold and Callaway, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Boise.
A memorial service was held in Idaho on July 11. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in July.
Haswell was born March 1, 1942, to James “Russell” and Margaret (Whipple) Haswell at Arnold. He attended schools in Nebraska and Commerce City, CO, and resided at Callaway and North Platte.
He served in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Hornet.
Haswell’s employment included construction work in Alaska and Leo’s Flowers in North Platte. He helped manage a rodeo in Idaho with his brother, Allen. He enjoyed working with his hands, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his father, James Russell Haswell; a sister, Linda Haswell; uncles—Carl Whipple and Eugene “Jr.” Whipple; an aunt, Bethel Whipple Willis.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy of Boise; his mother, Margaret Haswell-Jersin of Gothenburg; brothers—Ivan “Levi” Haswell of Bellville, KS, Leslie “Bud” Haswell of North Platte, and Allen Haswell of Idaho City, ID; sisters—Peggy Mathes of Indian Mound, TN, Annettie Haswell of Gothenburg, and Laurie Kay Ratterree of Florissant, CO; daughters—Jamie of Eugene, OR, Angie and Beth Ann, both of Boise; six grandchildren; numerous extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the “James Haswell Gold Dust Arena” c/o Judy Haswell, 300 Main St., Idaho City, ID 83631.
