Elsena Aden, 95 - December 16, 2011


Elsena “Sena” Johanna Aden, 95, of Gothenburg passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services took place at the American Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 20, with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Interment was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Aden was born April 30, 1916, at Gothenburg, to Fred and Alma (Stevens) Franzen. She grew up north of Gothenburg where she attended country school thru the seventh grade. She then went directly into high school in Gothenburg where she graduated in 1933.
She was united in marriage to Virgil R. Aden on Feb. 19, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church. To this union, two children were born.
Aden and her husband resided and farmed north of Gothenburg until moving into Gothenburg in 1980.
She was a homemaker and worked at the Larsen & Patterson Jewelry Store for several years.
Aden was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and American Lutheran Church where she was involved with women’s circle and quilting groups. She was also a member of several dance clubs.
?She enjoyed her family, flower and vegetable gardens, raising chickens and short drives around Gothenburg, according to family members.
Aden was preceded in death by: her husband, Virgil Aden; her parents, Fred and Alma; two sisters—Mable Kuhlman and Alvina Aden.
Survivors include: her son, Dwaine (Nancy) Aden of Gothenburg; her daughter, Joyce (Doug) Schuldt of Omaha; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
