Frank Boyd, 84 - January 24, 2012

Frank F. Boyd, 84, of Gothenburg passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
Register book signing will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.
Boyd deeded his remains to the Anatomical Board Humanitarian Research division of Creighton Medical Center and UNMC.
He was born June 7, 1927, at Holbrook to Fred and Agnes (Vantine) Boyd.
Boyd attended school at Curtis until his family moved to Lexington where he graduated from Lexington High School in 1945.
He was drafted on April 6, 1946, and served his country in Japan with the occupation Air Force.
On Nov. 9, 1947, he married Alice Heidebrink. The couple resided at Lexington where he worked at the Coop until March 1, 1949, when they moved to his wife’s family farm north of Gothenburg. They resided there for 60 years until they moved into town to live at Stone Hearth Estates.
Boyd attended the St. John’s Lutheran Church, then later the American Lutheran Church, and was confirmed as part of the first class in the new church, where he remained an active church member.
He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Boyd and his wife enjoyed getting together with family and going square dancing, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Fred and Agnes; a brother, Jim Boyd; brother-in-law, Westley Geiken; sisters-in-law—Vera Geiken and Mildred Jensen; a great-grandson, Cain Hernandez.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice May Boyd of Gothenburg; four sons—Robert (Lisa) Boyd of Hastings, David (Cynthia) Boyd of Lexington, Thomas (Janet) Boyd of Overton and Douglas (Mimi Schneider) Boyd of Lincoln; grandchildren—Nichole (Erik) Wetjen, Leilani Boyd, Zachary Boyd, Sarah (Cesar) Hernandez, Matthew (Sara) Boyd and Shawn (Kendra) Boyd; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Wilma Boyd of Kearney; nieces, nephews and extended family members.
