Cleo Olsen, 84 - March 23, 2012
Cleo Deloris Olsen, 84, of Aurora, formerly of Hampton, died at Memorial Community Care in Aurora on Friday, March 23, 2012.
A visitation will be conduced on Tuesday, March 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church.
Services will take place on Wednesday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton with the Rev. Chris Kester-Beyer officiating. Interment will be at the United Lutheran Cemetery.
Olsen was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Atlanta to John C. and Nettie (Adams) Steinke. She grew up in the Holdrege area and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1946.
On Oct. 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leroy “Roy” Olsen at Holdrege. The couple lived the early years of their marriage in Holdrege and Minden. In 1955, they moved to Hampton.
Her husband died in 2005, and she remained in their home in Hampton until moving to East Park Villa in Aurora in 2008, and then to Memorial Community Care in January of 2010.
Olsen was a member of the United Lutheran Church of Hampton and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and baking, according to family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Nettie Steinke; her husband, Roy; her son, Scott in 2001; three brothers—John, Charles and Kenneth Steinke.
Survivors include: her children—Tom Olsen of Aurora, Chuck and Ceci Olsen of Phoenix, AZ, Kathy Flynn of Lincoln, and Mark and Damaris Olsen of Hampton; daughter-in-law, Sarah Olsen of Texas; 10 grandchildren—Laura Olsen and Adam Olsen of Texas, Gerad and Kelsey Olsen of Aurora, Alicia and Chris Stewart of Shelton, Ashley Olsen and Derrick Olsen of Arizona, Shannon Flynn and Sean Flynn of Lincoln, Brett Olsen and fiance, Erin Davis and Micheala Olsen, all of Hampton; five great-grandchildren—Ainsley, Cayleb and Jace Stewart and Rylee and Addison Olsen; several nieces and nephews.
Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements.
