Christine Mercer, 43 - May 24, 2012
Christine M. Mercer, 43, of Cozad died May 24, 2012, at her home in Cozad.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial will be in the Gaslin Cemetery south of Brady.
Visitation for memorial book signatures will be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home.
Mercer was born April 17, 1969, at Gothenburg to Lawrence “Butch” and Peggy (May) Keefer. She attended Brady High School.
She had worked as a cook at Southview Manor in Cozad, and later, Cozad Child Care. On June 22, 2007, she married Duane Mercer at Lexington, and the couple made their home in Cozad. She had most recently been employed at Hunt Cleaners in Cozad.
Mercer was a wonderful caregiver to her family, according to family members. She worked diligently to care for both of her parents, before they passed away. She was an avid Husker Football fan and loved to ride motorcycles.
She could often be found working countless hours in her yard and painting pictures. She loved spending time outdoors, whether it was riding, camping or just spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Memorials are suggested to the Vietnam Veterans of America in her memory.
She was preceded in death by: her mother Peggy in 1995; father Butch in 2011; sister Korena in 2011; uncle, Bryan Hyland; and stepson, Bryan Dixon.
Survivors include: husband Duane of Cozad; daughter Cassandra Eades (Heather McNulty) of Holdrege; son Jamie Gerety of Cozad; 6 stepchildren; 16 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
