Helen Garrelts, 93 - July 04, 2012
Services will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 9, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ken Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Garrelts was born March 19, 1919, at Moorefield, daughter of Floyd and Cora ( Kishmer) Mosley.
She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1937.
On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Earl Garrelts. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage before his death in 2006.
Garrelts and her husband farmed and ranched north of Brady from 1943 to 1973. They moved to Fort Collins, CO, and lived there 23 years until 1996 when they returned to Brady. In 1987, they began spending winter months in Apache Junction, AZ, and enjoyed doing so until 2000.
She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed working with ceramics, according to family members. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling as well as music of any kind, especially music with her family.
Garrelts was a member of the American Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Floyd and Cora Mosley; her husband, Earl Garrelts.
Survivors include: two sons—Blaine (Patricia) Garrelts of Brady and Larry (Cheryl) Garrelts of Layton, UT; six grandchildren—Betty Jean, Lynda, Karen, Richard, Deanna and Sheri; five step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
