Nathan Kirkpatrick, 43 - August 06, 2012Nathan Wesley Kirkpatrick, 43, of North Glenn, CO, formerly of Gothenburg, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Glenn.
Services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, Aug. 13, at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Kirkpatrick was born Dec. 26, 1968, at Gothenburg, son of Dennis and Susan (Trumble) Kirkpatrick.
He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1987 where he participated in football and basketball.
Kirkpatrick attended basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and was assigned to San Diego Naval Base. He served his country with the U.S. Navy from July of 1987 to January of 1990.
He enjoyed snow skiing, playing cribbage, poker and hunting, said family members. He never let the accident he was in take away his life, and he was able to enjoy the Winter Park handicap snow skiing, kayaking and white water rafting.
Kirkpatrick enjoyed when friends came and took him to Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos games, according to family members. He was even able to come back to Gothenburg for his 10-year high school class reunion.
He loved KISS, said family, and was able to attend several of their concerts. He also had the opportunity to act by playing an extra on a made for TV movie while at the Learning Services in Lakewood, CO.
Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by: his grandparents; two aunts; and two cousins.
Survivors include: his parents, Dennis and Susan Kirkpatrick of Gothenburg; brothers—Dorian (Sarah) Kirkpatrick of Peyton, CO, and Nicholas Kirkpatrick of Denver, CO; a nephew, Kaleb Kirkpatrick; niece, Kaitlyn Kirkpatrick; aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and the Boy Scouts Troop 177.
