Devine was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Gothenburg, daughter of James and Grace (Seimering) Gray.
Her father died when she was 7 years old. Her family lived in Gothenburg until her mother married Ralph Helberg, when the family then moved north of Brady, later moving to Callaway. Devine remained and lived with Roy and Mable Nichols so she could graduate from Gothenburg High School with the Class of 1943.
On Jan. 29, 1945, she was united in marriage to Morris Devine. The couple resided north of Cozad until moving north of Gothenburg to her family’s land.
She and her husband worked hard making the land into their home of 67 years where she helped him with the farm as well as raising their four children.
Devine found time to enjoy herself at birthday club, a neighborhood coffee club, teaching Sunday school, Bible school and the church quilters, said family members.
She could always be found embroidering or sewing something, and there was always coffee brewing and something good to eat for those who stopped by, according to family members.
Devine was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the family said.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, James and Grace; stepfather, Ralph; granddaughter, Markie Rae Devine; step-brothers—Stan Helberg, Roy Helberg and Roland Helberg; step-sister, Eleanor Nelson.
