Lloyd J. Wieser, 86 - September 29, 2012Lloyd J. “Pinky” Wieser, 86, of Grand Island, formerly of Gothenburg, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the Grand Island Veteran’s Home.
In honor of Wieser’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be conducted at the Gothenburg Cemetery at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Wieser was born Dec. 23, 1925, near Wolbach, where he was raised, to Loyd and Bessie (Elliot) Wieser.
He entered the U.S. Navy on April 17, 1947, in Hastings and was honorably discharged on Feb. 24, 1950.
Wieser was united in marriage to Joanne Borre Kamper. To this union, a son, Lynn Jay, was born on Nov. 1, 1949.
He then married Patricia A. Whitney in October of 1954, and was divorced in October of 1982. The couple owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Gothenburg.
Upon sale of the dry cleaning business, he spent time riding his Harley and flying his Piper Warrior. He then resided in a motor home at Texas, and until the previous year, at Alamogordo, NM, when health reasons brought him back to Nebraska. The past four months he had lived at the Veteran Home, which was special to him, said family members.
Wieser was preceded in death by: his son, PGC Lynn J. Wieser at Vietnam in 1969; his parents, Loyd and Bessie Wieser; two sisters—Velda Christensen and Shirley Goehring; two brothers—Darwin Wieser and Melvin Wieser.
Survivors include: nieces—Lana (Leo) Schweiger of Grand Island, Stacey Goehring of Austin, TX, and Sandra (Randy) Wieser-Mathews of Minnesota; nephews—Michael Goehring of Austin, Russell (Clara) Goehring of Longmont, CO, David Wieser of Minnesota, Larry (Marlene) Fiese and Rick Fiese, all of Gothenburg; a brother, Wayne Wieser and family of Shelton; guardian, Pat Wieser of Grand Island.
