LaDonna (Block) King, 63 - November 19, 2012LaDonna (Block) King, 63, of Harrisburg, PA, formerly of Gothenburg, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at her home outside of Harrisburg.
A memorial service will be conducted at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg on Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. Family members will be greeting visitors from 10 to 11 a.m.
King was born in Gothenburg to Signe and Clarence Block on Feb. 10, 1949, as the third of four children.
She graduated from Gothenburg High School with the Class of 1967, and later graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, with the Class of 1971.
King traveled around the world as part of a global education with St. Olaf College. This travel provided a strong base for her lifelong interest in social concerns and her desire to help others, said family.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, touching many lives as a teacher, counselor and friend, according to family members. In every aspect of her life she displayed an extraordinary ability to reach out to other people with an open mind, acceptance and steadfast support.
King was known for her eminent vivacious spirit, open heart and unwavering grace, providing comfort to others, family members said, as well as her contagious laugh, passion for life and choosing to “dance in the midst of the madness.”
?She was preceded in death by: her father, Clarence Block; father-in-law, Bob King; brother-in-law, John Alstad; granddaughter, Fritzie Zuckerman.
?Survivors include: her husband, Terry King; her mother, Signe (Wahlgren) Block; mother and father-in-law, Agnes (Seifer King) and Harold Liggett; her children—Mistia and Harmon Zuckerman, Jeneia Mullins and Matthew Phillips, Libby and Jaime King, James King, David and Tifany King; grandchildren—Henry Zuckerman and Arlo King; siblings—Janet and Ed Youngberg, Rhonda Alstad, Mark and Kim Block and Larry (Judy) King; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members.
Memorials are suggested to the Susan B. Komen and Planned Parenthood Foundations.
