Leslie Dale Schlake, 54, of Gothenburg died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at his home in Gothenburg.
A memorial service was held Thursday, April 30, at the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev.Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein, PMA, officiating. Another memorial service will be held at Norfolk at a later date.
Schlake was born Jan. 31, 1955, to John and Elaine (Schmidt) Schlake at Beatrice.
He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1973 and Creighton Medical School at Omaha in 1982. He was also a 1985 graduate of the University of Iowa Family Practice Residency Program.
Schlake was united in marriage to Yvonne Franssen in 1980. To this union, three children were born.
He worked as a physician in Broken Bow for five and one-half years, was an emergency doctor in Grand Island, Hastings and North Platte for three and one-half years, and was the owner of Norfolk Primary Care in Norfolk for 12 years.
?Schlake was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
?He had enjoyed cars and traveling in his spare time, according to family members.
?Survivors include: his children—Jeffery (Marjolaine) Schlake of Lincoln, Erin Schlake and Lesley (Micah) Roberts, all of Norfolk; his parents, John and Elaine; a brother, LaMonte (Darla) Schlake of Gothenburg; ex-wife, Yvonne Schlake of Norfolk.
