Garald P Morris, 88 - December 29, 2012

Lifelong Gothenburg resident Garald P Morris, 88, passed away on Dec. 29, 2012, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg on Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell.
Morris was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Gothenburg to Lee and Eva (Adams) Morris.
On Dec. 14, 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific theater on an aircraft carrier until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 1, 1946, with a rank of seaman first class.
Morris married Ruth I. Roe in Lexington on May 19, 1947.
He was an avid member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and hunting. Watching sports was a favorite pastime, particularly when there was a Nebraska volleyball or football game on.
Morris was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Ruth I. Morris; infant daughter, Ruth Ann Morris; brothers, Bill Morris and Gene Morris.
Survivors include: his son, Perry (Rose) Morris; daughters—Jonie (Elmer) Birnie, Ramona (Larry) Gronewold, Charlene Morris and her god daughter, Kelsey Houchin; granddaughters—Jody Preitauer, Tara Bohr, Wendy Wilkins; grandsons—Shane Gronewold, Gary Morris, Michael Moses; great-grandsons—Jake Preitauer, Brady Preitauer, Clay Bohr, Devan Wilkins, Brandon Wilkins, Kaiden Wilkins; great-granddaughters—Sierra Gronewold, Skylar Gronewold, Claira Bohr; sister, Mary (Scott) Ward; special friend Vi Quig, along with numerous niece, nephews and extended family.
