Swedes compete at national speech event

SALT LAKE CITY—The National Speech and Debate Association meet is the national championship for high schoolspeech. Gothenburg High School was well-represented.

“There are speech contestants from every state in the United States and even some territories,” Gothenburg speech coach Dan Jensen said. “This is a really big deal.”

Five Swedes competed in Salt Lake City. They were Roman Schmidt, dramatic interpretation; Drake Langley, duo interpretation; Dominic Long, duo interpretation; Kylie Beyea, informative and Dylan France, humorous.
