Juniors take aim at club championship

On Tuesday, some of the area’s top young golfers teed it up at Wild Horse golf course for the Junior Club Championship.

The number of holes played varied from nine to one.

Jake Scherer shot 51 over nine holes, leading the group of seven. Bryce Ryker was the only other nine-hole golfer under 60 strokes.

The six-hole competition was dominated by Thomas Graham. Graham finished at 32, 13 shots better than second place.

There was quite the competition between the 12 boys that played three holes. Trey Stevens led the group at 22, but there were five other golfers within three shots of Stevens.

Emily Cornwell edged Ellary Harm in the girls’ 3-hole division. Cornwell shot 25, and Harm was right behind her at 26.

Only two boys competed in the one-hole challenge. Both Rye Tiller and Jack Aden shot 14.

Raegan Sucha topped the one-hole girls, shooting seven. None of the other three competitors finished in single digits.
