Volunteer organization forming to help Brady residents clean up

The village of Brady has been diligent over the past few years, working to clean up properties that create an eyesore in the community.

The village board has adopted nuisance ordinances and works with West Central Nebraska Development District on nuisance abatement.

This week, a Brady Cleanup Assistance Organization will officially get its start with a mission to help village residents eliminate nuisance ordinance violations.

Village board chairman Todd Roe will lead the first meeting of the volunteer group at 6 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Community Center.

The short organizational meeting will be used to collect names and contact information from those wishing to volunteer as well as discussing preliminary goals for the group, Roe said.

“In a nutshell, we are forming a community group that village residents can come to for help or assistance concerning ordinance violations,” Roe said. “The idea is to provide a means to those who are just in need of help or that might not have the capability to help themselves.”

Help provided will not be based on income but rather on need.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the group and input is encouraged. For more information, contact Roe at (308) 660-9050 or call the village office at (308) 584-3316.
