DC Extension offering corn disease update

There will be a brief corn disease update meeting on Thursday, Aug. 4 in the 4-H Exhibit Building at the Dawson County Fairgrounds in Lexington.

The meeting starts at 1 p.m. and should last approximately one hour, but those interested are welcome to stay longer to get their questions answered.

Some hybrids are seeing more bacterial disease right now and it is being incorrectly diagnosed as fungal diseases.

Dr. Tamra Jackson-Ziems from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present a disease update and explain how to differentiate bacterial from fungal disease in corn.

The Dawson County Extension office is hoping the timing of this meeting fits with many consultants scouting fields for the week, and that many from the ag industry and farmers can attend.
