Golfers show balance with 367 at Lex Invite

Swedes finish 10th at North Platte

LEXINGTON—All five of Gothenburg’s golfers shot under 100 during the rescheduled Lexington Invite on April 29.

“We showed good team balance,” said Swede coach Jim Henke. “Overall, it was a good team effort.”

The Swedes finished in 10th place as a team with a total of 367.

Tyler Leffler of Kearney was the individual medalist carding a 77.

Swede senior Chase Maurer led Gothenburg with 46 on the front nine and 43 on the back for an 89 total. He was four strokes out of a medal.

“Chase was playing well but had some bad luck on the last two holes,” Henke said. “That’s what kept him out of medal contention.”

Alex Peden, Lucas Pelzer and Derek Franzen played consistent rounds shooting 91, 92 and 95 respectively while Brady Preitauer recorded a personal best of 98 for 18 holes.

“The guys are positive they can do better,” Henke said. “ I know they certainly have the potential.”
