“The best time I had with my mom is when my mom and me stayed home and watched T.V. while my dad and sister, and my grandpa and grandma went hunting. It was quiet in the house and me and my mom got to spend time with each other.”
Claudine Kennicutt

“The best time I had with my mom is when we went to Kearney to have my ear surgery. I sat in the back seat of the car. We drove on the left side of the highway by a van. I was playing Webkinz on my mom’s laptop when she said, “We’re here!” So, before we went to have my surgery, we went to my favorite restaurant in Kearney, AppleBees. I had pasta with marinara and Sprite. My mom had a chicken salad with a Coke. So, I stole a chicken and my mom stole a noddle from my pasta. We both laughed and my mom and I both knew it was a joke. We decided we should go now. So, we headed straight to the ear center. Before I sat down, I grabbed a magazine. I grabbed another magazine. Then finally, the doctor called me in when I had finished the first magazine. That was the best time I had with my mom!”
Teresa Mueller

“The best time I had with my mom is when I was born. That’s when I first saw my mom, and she has a very full heart, and I couldn’t wish for anything better! Some moms don’t spend time with their kids, my mom does. I’m very thankful she’s my mother, and she is a very good mom. I love her! And she’s very, very, very kind to others. And that was my first day in the world, and it was an awesome day! I love my mom with all my heart! See you later, bye!”
Rita Foster
Submitted by Herschel Foster, 4th grade.
“The best time I had with my mom is when we went to my wrestling tournament in 2007 in the Gothenburg gym. She cheered me on—it was a good day! She supported me, even when I didn’t win. It was the best tournament. She got water and lunch for me. When I got a black eye, she got an ice pack for it. When my hand got crushed, she got an ice pack for that, too. She picked up the medal and took it home with us. It was a great day, it was fun, it was my first tournament and I felt great!”
Kimberly Heusman
Submitted by Jacob Buhring, 5th grade.
“The best time I had with my mom is when we went to the ocean. On the road, we played I Spy. When we got there, we looked for seashells. After that, we went body boarding. Then, we tried some saltwater taffy. It actually was pretty good. After that, we went scuba diving. It’s amazing what you can see down there! Then, we went to the board walk. Next, we booked a room in a hotel.
In the morning, we got some ice cream. After that, my mom and I were getting homesick. So, we packed up our stuff and went home. On the way home, we picked up some souvenirs. Oh what’s that? It’s my mom’s favorite song. So, with the radio blasting, we go home. That was the best day ever, we both say!”
Dawn Darling
Submitted by Joseph Darling, 6th grade.
“The best time I had with my mom is when we went to Yellow Stone in Wyoming. It took some time to get parked, but we did it. When we got there, we raced to Old Faithful and had no time to get under an umbrella when Old Faithful’s water came splashing down. After that, we went on a trail. On the trail, we saw parents taking their kids to ride on a buffalo. We left before the buffalo got mad. Later, we saw some grizzlies. Some guy got really close to one cub and made everyone move for safety. We drove somewhere else to eat. After supper, we headed for home.”
