Longtime Casper, Wyoming, resident Dale Gronewold passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2018 in Gig Harbor, Washington.  

Dale was preceded in death by his parents John and Alma Gronewold of Torrington, Wyoming; and his brothers, Donald and Dewey.  

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, and son, Rob Gronewold (Elayne Wallis), of Gig Harbor, Washington, and two grandchildren, Sierra Villaran of Oakland, California, and Jeff Gronewold of Boulder, Colorado.

Dale was born near Farnam on Dec. 22, 1928.  His family moved to a farm year Yoder, Wyoming in the early 1930s.  He graduated from Huntley High School, where he played on a state championship basketball team.  He and his friendsenjoyedmanycross-countrymotorcycle tours in the 1950s and 1960s.  Dale rode what may arguably be one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made, a Vincent Rapide.

In his early career Dale worked as a hunting and fishing guide in the Jackson Hole and Dubois, Wyoming areas.  When he met Juanita he was a tour boat operator on Jackson Lake.  Dale retired from Kinder Morgan in Casper in 1990. He and Juanita were metal detecting enthusiasts and spent many hours exploring the Oregon Trail throughout Wyoming.  They were early donors to the National Historical Trails Interpretive Center in Casper. Dale and Juanita moved to Washington State in 2015.
