Hastings resident Jerry “Pat” Novacek, 81, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with family members present at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at North Shore Assembly of God in Hastings with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Memorials may be given to Jerry “Pat” Novacek Memorial Fund for strength and conditioning equipment at Gothenburg High School c/o Gothenburg State Bank, 900 Lake Avenue, Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Pat was born April 3, 1937, in Tekamah, Nebraska, to Gerald and Edna (Robinson) Novacek. He graduated from Tekamah High School and received his
master’s degree in education from North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. Pat married G. June Hauptman on Aug. 18, 1957, in Nebraska City.
Pat taught and coached for many years, finishing his career in Gothenburg. He was a member of the Nebraska Coaches Association.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Julie Delzer.
Survivors include: his wife, June Novacek, of Hastings; children and spouses Jim and Julie Novacek of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Jody Novacek of Hastings, Jay and Amy Novacek of Joshua, Texas, and Jason “Bump” and Freeda Novacek of Glenvil; grandchildren Joyce Ragard, Becky Novacek, Grace Novacek, Janice Novacek, Karson Novacek, Blake Novacek, Anna Novacek and McKinley Novacek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
