On Thursday, April 14, 2022 Joan Lucille Soller Beck passed away at the North Valley Hospital, Whitefish, MT, in the presence of her loving family at the age of 91.

Jo was born in Kearney on June 6, 1930 to Elmer and Doris Soller. Her early years were spent at the farm south of Gothenburg. Like many farmers during the great depression her family moved west looking for better opportunities and eventually settled in Northern California for several years, where Jo spent her childhood and teenage years. After graduation from High School, she moved to San Francisco then later followed her family to Montana, which became her permanent home. She married Bob Beck and to this union four children were born. Roger, Bobby, Gordon, and Lorraine. Jo and Bob instilled the love of the outdoors to their children and raised the family on hunting, fishing and camping in the wilds of Northwest Montana, with huckleberry pancakes and cut-throat trout the early morning fare at every campsite.

Jo had a 25-year career as Deputy of the Plat Department at the Flathead County Courthouse. She also was an avid golfer and serious Bridge player.

After bravely fighting a third bout of cancer, Jo moved on to her heavenly home, joining her husband, Bob and son, Bobby.

Jo is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, her brother Jack Soller of Gothenburg, and niece Lexi McNeal of Kearney, NE.

A celebration of Joan’s life was held April 28th, 2022, at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, Columbia Falls, MT.
