He enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman.

Luther Miller, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Nov. 4, 2018 in Gothenburg.  

He was born Sept. 20, 1923 in Huntingdale, Mo., son of Landon and Edna Alice (Blakely) Miller.

Luther lived in Missouri  until he joined the service.  He served his country in the Army from 1942 to 1946.  Luther met his wife Wanda Cumptson in Gothenburg and they were married on June 2, 1956 in Independence, Mo. They had two daughters, Cathy and Sandy.  The family lived in the Gothenburg and Cozad area except for a short time that they lived in Arizona shortly after they were married.   They lived at Midway Lake for many years.  

Luther worked for Armor Cattle Company at Cozad.  He later worked the hay mill and hauled corn for local farmers.  He enjoyed bowling and won many tournaments.  He liked to sing little ditties and often sang them in German; he also counted in German.  He liked to play jokes and pull pranks on his friends and family.  He was a very good dancer.  He cooked and canned fresh produce from his garden.  He was very particular about his garden and never a weed would be found.  He spent many hours fishing for catfish at Midway in his secret spots.  He enjoyed watching the squirrels and had a pet squirrel that would eat food out of his pocket.  

.urvivors include his two daughters, Cathy (Vaughn) Smith of Paragould, Ark., and Sandy (George Trujillo) Miller of Gothenburg; grandson, Ryan Magana; three great grandchildren - Dominique, Alyssa, Aspen; sister, Lavina Booth; along with many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.  

.Luther was preceded by his wife Wanda Gail Miller; father, Landon Miller; mother, Edna Alice Miller; two grandsons, Larry Joe Magana, Michael Gordon; granddaughter, DeAnna Kay Gordon; three sisters, Bertha Caylor, Buelah Tillman, Mary Lyons; five brothers, Raymond Miller, Lewis Miller, Edward Miller, Leo Miller, James Miller.

.Visitation was held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, Nov. 8.

.Services were held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Nov. 9, with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.  

Interment followed in the Grandview Cemetery, Gothenburg.
