Marilyn “Jean” Young, 79, of Kearney, died Monday, June 17, 2019 at her home. Memorial Services were held Thursday, June 20, at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Services in Kearney. Rev. Rick Carlson officiated. Burial was scheduled at the Mission Center Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.

Marilyn “Jean” (Voss) Young was born on January 4, 1940 in North Platte to Ernest Joseph and Helen Virginia (Isaacson) Voss. She married Paul D. Young on April 25, 1970 in Boulder, Colorado.

She graduated from Brady High School in 1957. She later received her nursing degree from St. Francis hospital in Grand Island in 1960, her B.S. innursing1989andB.A.inhistory in 1992 from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi scholastic society and of Phi Alpha Theta a history honor society.

Marilyn is survived by her brother, Lar (Deb) Voss, of Loveland, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
