Paula (Paula P as known by her family) La Rae (Porter) Rogers, 78, of Brady, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado, passed away on Feb. 8, 2019 at the Cozad Care Home in Cozad, with family around her.
Paula was born to William and Caroline (Kate) Porter on Oct. 1, 1940, in Calla-way. She grew up in Brady, where she met James (Jim) Kolton Rogers. The two were united in marriage in Lexington, on May 4, 1957. To this union were born four daughters. Paula and Jim spent the majority of their lives in Denver, raising their family.
Her first years of marriage, Paula spent raising her four young daughters and babysitting other children. She then joined the workforce where she loved cleaning for Valley Vista United Methodist Church. She also was employed with School District #50 Food Service, in Denver, for 24 years, where she started out as a baker and left as a manager.
In 1994, Paula and Jim retired to Jeffery Lake,. Paula loved entertaining guests, visiting with friends and family, laughing, attending church, singing, reading, praying and reading her Bible, reciting nursery rhymes, thrifting, cooking, going on road trips, enjoying her grandkids’ various activities, helping others and her time spent at Jeffery Lake.
Paula was the matriarch of her family’s faith. Her faith was very important to her and she showed that through the way she lived her life.
.Paula knew no stranger. To Paula, everyone was “sweetheart”. All who were in her presence felt loved by her and important.
.Survivors include, four daughters, Cyndi (Scott) Foresman of Kearney, Pam (Scott) Gallas of Thorton, Colorado, Sheri (Keith) Wagner of Arvada, Colorado, and Jamie (Jim) Mann of Jeffery Lake; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grand children; a brother, Bob Porter and sister-in-law Marilyn Porter and brother- in-law, Bill Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
.Paula was proceeded in death by her husband, James Rogers, her parents, in-laws, and grandparents, four older brothers, Don, Herbert, Norm, and Jimmy Porter, three sister in-laws, Rose Porter, Margaret Porter, and Kay Rogers.
A celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at The Crossing Fellowship Family Life Center with Pastor Jim Mann officiating.
Flowers can be sent to The Life Center, Friday, March 22, between 1-3 p.m. Memorials can be given to the MS Foundation, Alzheimer’s Foundation and Cozad Hospice Care.
