Stanley Johnson, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died June 1, 2019 in Cozad, Nebraska.
He was born February 4, 1924 in Brady, NE, son of Albert and Hilma Johnson.
He was a member of the Brady Lions Club, a Sunday School Teacher and Boy Scout Leader, a Commander of the Gothenburg VFW, and hand corn picking champion. Stanley enjoyed hunting from a young age, was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hiking, ice skating, and rollerblading. He served in WWII in the Navy where he was a gunners mate first class, serving on the destroyer escort USS Koffman in the North Atlantic.
Surviving are son, John Johnson of Omaha, daughter, Janice Johnson of Holdrege, son, Clifford Johnson of Brady, son, Russel Johnson of Gothenburg, daughter, Karen Johnson of Buena Vista, CO, and son, Doug Johnson of Broken Arrow, OK, brother, George Johnson of Cozad, brother, Arnold Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, and sister, Ilene (Johnson) Blattner of Cozad.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and six older sisters.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, June 6, 2019, 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jamie Norwich McLennan officiating.
Interment will follow at Fort McPhereson.
