Thirty-two runners gathered to tread the streets of Gothenburg Saturday, November 21 for the first ever Thankful Run 5K hosted by the Gothenburg YMCA. Runners donned bibs telling what they were thankful for. Jake Hasenauer of North Platte won the men’s division while his wife won the women’s. Kinleigh Coffman won the girls one mile run and Kyler Coffman wond the boys one mile run. The YMCA hopes to make this an annual event. (Contributed photo)

PRESS RELEASE. – The Wreaths Across America event will be held December 19th at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at 12:00 noon. The goal of the event is to place a live, balsam fir wreath at the headstone of every Veteran buried at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, to spread patriotism and ensure no one is forgotten. Lee Bird Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is helping to support this event by promoting sponsorships/donations for wreaths.

SWEDES COMPETE AT MINDEN QUAD: The Gothenburg Junior High Wrestling team traveled to Minden to wrestle Cozad, Holdrege, McCook and host Minden. The team finished with 17 wins and 16 losses. Wrestlers going undefeated on the evening were Carsen Farr, Rye Tiller, Preston Nichols, Yahriel Gaeta, and Ranan Rubalcava. Pin leaders were Tiller, Nichols, and Rubalacava with two apiece. Takedown leaders were Carsen Farr with four and Ranan Rubalcava, five. Wrestlers of the meet were Rye Tiller and Ranan Rubalcava.
