BRANTLEY AUSTIN ENGER

A son, Brantley Austin Enger was born April 1 at Gothenburg Health to Tyler and Cassidy Enger of North Platte. He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long. Grandparents are the late Joseph Enger of Grand Junction, CO, Brad and Tammy Betts of North Platte, and Todd and Terrianne Wheelerof Craig, CO. Great-grandparents are the late Dallas and Linda Houchin of North Platte, Ted Wheeler of Craid, CO and Stan and Lucille Peterson of Craig, CO.

CARSON JOSEPH SIEMERING

A son, Carson Joseph Siemering was born April 14 at Gothenburg Health to Alyssa Brush and Levi Siemering. He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Leah Peden of Kearney, Stacey Siemering of Cozad, Kristine Coulter of Gothenburg and Nick Brush of South Carolina. Little Carson was welcomed home by sisters Jaemine and Annabell.

Bennett Lane Bodfield

A son, Bennett Lane Bodfield was born April 22 at Gothenburg Health to Lance and Dalcy Bodfield. He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Grandparents Kevin, Jessica Bodfield of Dorchester and Randy and Teresa Odell of Holdrege, Ryan and Becky Kort of Blue Hill and Chad Pfeiffer of Kearney. Great-grandparents are Judy Goodwin of Gothenburg, Connie Dorsey of Kearney and Carl and Rita Nelson of Gothenburg. Sister Karsynne and brother Beau welcomed Bennett home.

Betty E. Etherton, 89, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 8, 2020 in Gothenburg.

Gary Lee Smith

Gary Lee Smith, 68 of Gothenburg passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his home.

DALE W. FARMER

Dale Wesley Farmer, age 84, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care in Sidney, NE. He was born on March 22, 1936 to Lyle Wesley and Nellie Amelia (Zoerb) Farmer at Callaway, NE. He graduated from Callaway High School in 1953 and attended five semesters at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a personnel clerk during the latter part of the Korean War. He married Joann “Jody” E. Smith on August 30, 1958 at Callaway St. Boniface Catholic Church. Dale was appointed Postmaster at Callaway, NE in 1958 and retired in 1991 with a 35 year service pin from the U.S. Postal Service. He and Jody retired to Gothenburg NE in 2007 for nine years, and then moved to the Sidney Assisted Living Facility.

Richard Raymond Munson was born on December 5, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the third child of Franklin Louis and Mary Jane Alice (Garrett) Munson who lived on a farm near Burnside, Iowa. Annette and Gary welcomed him into their family which would later include Martha. Richard was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Burnside. Rich was very involved in his church and 4-H. He often had jobs helping other farmers throughout high school. Richard was never afraid of work just like his parents. In fact, it gave him pleasure and pride. Richard graduated in 1965 from Central Webster High School, at Burnside, IA. He attended Peru State College at Peru, NE where he graduated in 1971 with a BFA in music education. During that time he met his future wife, Letitia Marie Buss. They were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at rural DeWitt, NE on September 4, 1971. Richard was a public school music educator for 36 years all across Nebraska. Richard finished his teaching career at Chase County Schools in Imperial, NE. Over the years he did many other jobs as well from welding to machinery sales and repair to road construction. He was also an active member of the Cuming County Choraleers, Lions club, Nebraska Ambassadors of Music, Nebraska Band Masters Association, Nebraska Music Educators Association, and the Nebraska Education Association. After retirement, Richard has continued his passion for music by giving lessons and doing instrument repairs. He has continued working in the garage on tractor restorations and small engine repair. Richard passed away on April 23, 2020 at 73 years of age at the Chase County Community Hospital with his wife by his side.
