Visitation will be on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. Burial with military honors will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Reverend Robert John Schaff went home to be with the Lord after succumbing to Parkinson’s Disease on January 3, 2021. Robert was born in Gaylord, KS in 1932. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA and subsequently from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, IA. Robert served the Lord faithfully as pastor for 42 years in Cook, NE, Gothenburg, NE, and finally at Lutheran Church of the Master in Omaha, NE. He received honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees from Midland University and Dana College. Over the years, Robert provided guidance and leadership for Midland University, Dana College, Martin Luther Home, Dollars for Scholars, Habitat for Humanity, the Stephen Center and Project Hope.
