Ann L. Bluel, 82 of Gothenburg, NE died peacefully at Hilltop Estates on February 17, 2021.
Deloit N. Craig of Cozad passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg at the age of 89. Del was born November 22, 1931 in the family home near Ingham, Nebraska to Milton and Mable (Mercer) Craig. Del was the 6th of 12 children and grew up in the hills south of Brady, Nebraska. On November 21, 1953 he married Donna Jean Claflin. Their union was blessed with 7 children, Marty, Wade, Brad, Becky, Brenda, Shane and Gina. Del joined the U.S. Army in 1955. Following his discharge, he worked at local hay mills before starting his own business as an electrician. On August 31, 1991, he married Velma Hemenway. Del enjoyed country music, could play most instruments, and loved to entertain with his talent at local care homes. He also enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting and bowling. Del treasured time spent with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna; children, Becky, Brenda and Shane; stepson, Mike Faling; granddaughter, Audi Craig; 2 infant great grandsons; a sister and 5 brothers. Survivors include his wife Velma of Cozad; children, Marty (Marita) Craig of Lexington, Wade (Ginger) Craig of Farnam, Brad (Angie) Craig of Lincoln and Gina Craig of Lincoln; stepson, Robert (Angie) Faling of OR; 23 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 sister-inlaw and 2 brother-inlaws; along with many other relatives and friends. Memorials are suggested to the family in his name for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen. A limited private family graveside was held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery on February 17, 2021, with Rev. Jill Boyd officiating. A reception will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Cozad Elks Lodge and is open to all friends and family. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Matthew Robert Brass was born on December 4, 1970 in Lincoln, NE to Robert Garold Brass and Kay Sharon Kenton Brass. Matt’s family moved to Gothenburg, NE in 1974, and Matt’s brother and best friend, Anthony, was born six months later. There they found a wonderful community of family and friends, who taught Matt about loving thy neighbor and fostered a spirit of generosity.
On Tuesday morning, February 9, 2021, Joleen E Hicken, 78, of Kearney, moved to her Heavenly home. Joleen was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. Funeral services were held 10:30 am Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Kearney with Pastor Sean Dougherty officiating. The service will be live streamed through the church website at http://kearneyfb.org/watch. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
