HOMECOMING KING AND QUEEN Maddox Rickertsen(King) and Kaileigh Gilligan (Queen) with their Court after the crowning on Friday night. The Gothenburg Swedes Varsity Football team travelled to Ogallala Friday night to face the Indians on their field and came home with a notch in the loss column by a score of 26-5. The Swedes hard a hard time holding down the hard charging Ogallala offense and just could not get their own offense cranked up to put points on the scoreboard.
Gothenburg Swedes blasted Chase County on Thursday afternoon 10-0 in area softball girl’s action. The Swedes secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. The Swede's offense in the inning came from singles by Addisyn Streeter and Hayden Ricley, a sac fly by Madison Beachel, a ground out by Hannah Devlin and by Chloe Daharsh.
The Gothenburg Softball girls lost a close contest Thursday evening against Gering by a score of 7-5. The Swedes lost the lead late in the bottom of the fifth inning in the heartbreaking loss. The Swedes lost despite out hitting Gering Nine to seven at the dish. Chloe Daharsh took the win home for the Swedes. The ace lasted four and a third innings, allowed six hits and six runs while striking out six. Sarah Wiese was credited with the loss for the Bulldogs. The pitcher surrendered five runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking one Swede hitter. Chloe Daharsh led the Swedes at the plate with three hits at for trips to the plate. Allee Lohr led Gering going two for three at the plate in hits.
