Social Isolation and Loneliness: The Silent Pandemic

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been told to shelter in place. For many of us, sheltering in place has been a way of life before COVID-19. The Health Resources & Services Administration states that two in five Americans report they sometimes or always feel their social relationships are not meaningful and one in five say they feel lonely or socially isolated. And according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than a quarter of the U.S. population (28 percent) of older adults live alone.

Swedes Go Flawless at Hastings Triangular

Gothenburg volleyball hit the road as they faced off against Hastings and Crete at a triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Swedes were all business as they went flawless on the night and won every set they played.

Gothenburg Cross Country traveled to Crandall Creek Country Club to compete against 15 other schools on Thursday, Sept. 24. in the very competitve Ogallala Invite where they would eventually take second place.

A Busy Week of Swede Softball

The Swedes had a busy week as they played a total of four games: one at home against Holdrege and three at the tournament at GINW. Although Gothenburg struggled to get on the board in the first three games, their final game of the weekend ended in a picture-perfect fashion.
